Osgood-Schlatter’s disease
Osgood-Schlatters disease typically affects adolescent boys and is the most common overuse injury to the knee in athletic children. It develops as a result of repetitive micro-trauma to the attachment of the patellar tendon to the shin bone and may cause swelling and pain in the area.
The condition is generally self-limiting and rarely requires treatment other than limitation of activities until the symptoms resolve.
